My entry to a league fan contest to draw a support/mage concept based off of water called Myst. Maybe she would've been more interesting with shorter hair... but meh. This gave me enough headaches. XD;
We regret to inform you that you are hereby banned from this evening's Unbirthday party at the Unbirthday Manor in Whitetail Woods. As you are aware, our members are promised that no non-unbirthday persons shall be allowed on the premises, and, regretfully, we must uphold our promises and traditions. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
However, we look forward to admitting you back on the premises for the morrow's party, so please, don't do anything drastic in your depression, such as, but not limited to the following: suicide, over-dosing, self-injury, illegal activities, or other such activities which would incapacitate yourself. We do, however, highly encourage you to surround yourself with the others who won't be joining us for the evening, so that you will not fall to despair.
Thank you, and good day.
Magical Trevor, President of The Unbirthday Society
This fanskin was created before Nami came out, and it's not my concept. I drew the artwork, but someone else came up with the attacks and lore. I can't remember where the original thread was though. .___.
Even though we have Nami for a watery Support i would still play this one. A hero that has a wave she moves around on, would be awesome.
She looks a lot like sona, that could be the biggest reason why she didn't win but still an amazing piece. A weapon would have been great, maybe a horn that calls the water she rides on to shoot out a stream of water at the enemy... Oh well it is only art concept not a whole character concept and it is still amazing.
1 - I did win the contest (and the $100 prize money, heehee)
2 - This isn't my champion. I merely came up with a design for someone else's concept. XD;;;
3 - In my opinion, she looks nothing like Sona. Sona's most distinctive features are her pigtails, four trailing ribbons, and floating motion. Myst clearly has legs (thighs) and her skirt splits to reveal them. Her hair is not done in pigtails, and she doesn't have massive boobs.
Sona has legs you know. And yes this character does look a lot like Sona. Apart from tattoos and a slight shade different with the hair they do look similar. Just saying you can see her legs and that she is surrounded by water doesn't mean they don't look a like. All you need to do is add her instrument and you have a sona skin right there. Not to be an ass at all, this can also be a compliment at how good this could be for a sona skin! Which i would by almost instantly.
And congrats on the prize! It is worth the prize certainly.
I'm sorry, but when the major distinguishing features are different (lack of an instrument, pigtails, four ribbons,) the facial appearances which you can barely see and the long skirt (which Morgana and Karma also have) does not define differences. If you think in terms of 3D model design, they will indeed look very different in both motion and in personality. Sona has an air of serenity, usually associated with her 'gentle smile' while Myst has a mixture of quiet curiosity and contemplation, so her model will show her low self-esteem.
If you take a look at the first concept sketch, you'd understand their larger differences: [link]
And what i am saying is, it looks vaguely familiar to Sona. I have linked this to nearly everyone i play LoL with and nearly every one thought it was a Sona fan art. That is nearly over 100 people who thought it was Sona, and only a few who thought it was concept of a new character.
Look i agree her one KEY feature is missing, her weapon. But the rest isn't in EVERY design of her. There are many characters who have skins that look nothing like their base model.
So to me and many others, this looks like Sona without her instrument and not floating with tattoos and playing with water.
If you need me to give you proof of what people think i can give it. Either you take the fact that it to a lot of people, it looks like Sona without her darn hair did up with ribbons and weapon or you can keep up this defensive wall up.
They think that because fan art is more likely when you label something 'League' and draw it. Original concepts can come from things other than league, meaning when you say 'league' the first assumption is 'fan art' or 'skin concept' because it's much harder to relate it to League if the concept is completely original. That is to say you find the person of the closest resemblance and attach it. Reason: humans feel uncomfortable unable to categorize things so they mentally stick things inside boxes with labels whether they want to or not.
Tell me just what part of her looks like Sona because I see basically no resemblance except for the long dress. It's not enough for me that you 'like it,' because plenty of people will like it and not give a damn about it in the future. What I care about are reasons. Otherwise, how do I improve, right? "This looks like Sona without her instrument and not floating with tattoos and playing with water," to me, basically means "This isn't Sona." Similarly, Diana and Syndra both wear armor and have long, white hair. If you don't show their weapons, doesn't Syndra just look like Diana in Ionian armor with crescent moon horns and happens to float?
Because the standard for professional work exists in that manner, your current logic doesn't connect for me and I would like to understand in greater detail how you reason this for future reference. Sorry for the bother.
Er... I'll come up with better ideas for Riot. This is honestly not a good show of my design abilities. Also, they don't take designs from the fans nearly as much as they used to. They have a proper design team now for that and funds to back it.
Eh, better than if they did. Think about how many fans they have. How can they marginalize one fan's idea for another fan's idea when they're equally good just because the quota is already met? It's to keep Riot's reputation that they don't do this.
Naaaah. It's kind of basic knowledge in the politics of business. ._.; You can see it in human history too, especially in democratic republics. So for instance, you have a class of 20 people but only 5 cookies. Every student is equally outstanding. The cookies crumble into crumbs if you try to split them so how do you alot them to the class? Well, if the class never knew the intention that cookies would be rewarded, the lack of knowledge will protect them from the knowledge of loss, and furthermore, protects the teacher from protest for withholding the cookies. Even if it is known she has cookies, people are happier if NO ONE gets them rather than if someone gets them. That's why there's fights over budget all the time. People are happier if no one gets the budget they can't get so the budget only goes to things people agree the most on, causing a shitton of debate and senselessness. u_u;
I really like her *v* I would totally love to play her if she existed, but I know I'd be terrible at her because of the mage part XD
I really like the incorporation of the net, and the overall design is very neat, I don't usually like one shoulder dresses but I like yours here! I also really like the effect of her melting into the water.
Overall, a very intriguing character, and though I could not play her as a character (I have to play off tank characters or else I keep dying XD), it would be wonderful if Riot were ever to accept her great design
I sometimes do that too, I'm just a liiiittle too gutsy with my support. I have run headlong into a fight as Soraka before. It was not good. Trust me. XD This is now why I build Garen tanky an laugh as people overestimate their ability to kill him (Because at my level no one builds him that way)
