Description

This is a "surprise-me" commission for :iconzulma-san:... except she watched the livestream of it so it wasn't very surprising anymore! Please check out her gallery since she's an amazing seamstress and cosplayer. This is based off of her phantom of the opera cosplay with her hubby. :la:

I really liked this painting of yours. It's super cute!

I like her dress a lot. I love the I love the big, poufy skirt, and the way you see the motion/direction of the fabric wrapping around it. The shading and lighting on it fleshes out the volume and weight of the skirt, and the way those "folds" swoosh around also helps to imply some motion, some energy, like they're dancing! And then I like how her jacket wraps around her figure, too -- I like how the sleeves flare out into those kinda ruffly cuffs; they're distinct from the otherwise smooth look of the sleeves, but they fit together with them really well. I like how the stripes of her jacket work well against the more solid-color of the dress underneath.

I like her hair! I love how it swoops back to be tied at the white flower in her hair. There's a good sense of energy in seeing how it falls and wraps around her face, too. And I think her pose is graceful and pretty. I love how she turns her head back to face him, and the graceful way her arms are held out.

Though I think he has a better smile! X3 It's more open, and there's a warmth to it, but also a bit of a playful streak, too.

I like the effects/textures you applies to the lower half of the pic -- there's this kinda mist, or hate, that gives the whole scene a subtle, dreamy feel, that's cute in this couples pic.

I think the weakest element here is their intertwined hands, though they're not too bad. I feel like there's a lot of lines crammed into a small area, of their small hands, and that it's a little bit jumbled, and it takes a second or two of looking for my eyes and brain to clear up how they're intertwined. On the other hand (ugh), her other hand looks really good!

Cute pic. The commissioner is very lucky! : )
